Main uses
Protectosil CIT is a penetrating treatment applied to the surface of steel reinforced concrete, designed to delay the ingress of moisture and chlorides. Protectosil CIT will penetrate concrete and chemically bind to steel reinforcement within concrete, inhibiting corrosion induced by high chlorides and/or carbonation in existing concrete. Suitable for decks, facades, balconies, walkways, bridge decks, beams and columns. Is also suitable for marine applications including jetties, piers and sea defence walls (in tidal zone and above).
Advantages
This treatment reduces rates of any ongoing chloride or carbonation induced corrosion in existing concrete and will delay the onset of chloride induced corrosion in new and old concrete. The absorption rates of water and chlorides are reduced, however the passage of water vapour is unaffected, therefore the treatment allows the moisture within the concrete the diffuse out. The treatment is not affected by UV light and does not produce discolouration of the substrate.
