THE PROJECT 

Al-Turki Business Park is one of the most prestigious office complexes in Dhaharn City. It incoporates a 14-storey ultra-modern "Tower" and a block of ten buildings, "The Lofts". 

The 2-level basement of the part consists of a 16,000m²  car parking and three concrete tanks which will feed the complex with portable water. One of the major concerns in these tow contiguous structures, the parking and the tanks, is to provide the floor of the first with traffic-resistant topping and protect its walls from vehicles exhaust gases, and to ensure effective watertight containment for the second. 

Known for its comprehensive waterproofing and concrete protection solutions, Fosroc was consulted, and proposed system was favoured due to its practicality and durability. 

THE SOLUTION

In order to maintain watertight protection for the tanks, a double-lining waterproof system was used. The system had to be compatible with portable water and it consisted of Nitocote CM210 elastomeric cementitious coating and Proofex OGP Thermoplastic Polyolefin membrane, which was applied as a loose-fit "tank-in-tank" lining system. 

The floor of the car parking was coating with 500µm of abrasion resistant epoxy-polyurethane based Nitoflor EPU100 and the walls were coating with anti-carbonation coating system, Dekguard E2000, which processes breath-ability properties, allowing the water vapor accumulated in the structure to escape. With the attractive appearance and various colours of the coating, the parking lot exhibited a marvellous decorative finish. 

THE BENEFITS

Before the official opening of the complex, various quality assurance tests were carried out, including flood tests for the tanks to ensure water tightness; when showed successful results, the client affirmed that these two structures were in the hands of an effective protective system that would bring him peace of mind throughout their service. 

The solutions provided by Fosroc for the two structures were cost-effective, focusing in both on long-term durability, technical compatibility and practicality. Moreover, Fosorc's service quality was highly appreciated by the project consultant and it was, as he describes it, "Always there as a reliable source of solutions for his problems."
