THE PROJECT

Located in Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya, the Global Trade Centre (GTC) is an impressive multi-story mixed-use development that includes a 603-ft (184-m) office tower, a JW Marriott Luxury 5 Star Hotel, residential apartments, and a boutique mall. Being one of the largest and most prestigious complexes in Nairobi, the developer required a durable car park flooring system that would be easy to maintain. In addition, the client needed to ensure a waterproofing solution and reliable quality for their tile adhesive needs.

THE SOLUTION

For the parking and driveways, sloping ramps, and 150mm high skirting of the parking silo, the specification called for an "Industrial Epoxy solvent-free high build epoxy floor coating with a fine anti-slip finish." The recommended product by Fosroc was the Nitoflor FC150 car park system, which included Nitoflor FC150 with the primer, crack filler, and anti-slip aggregates. The contractor and project consultants were impressed with the product presentation, technical support provided, and the sample done on-site, which met the desired specifications. Additionally, Fosroc's Nitocote CM210, a polymer-modified cementitious coating, was approved for use in all wet areas. Nitotile EN also passed the pull-off tests on the heavy tiles used at GTC and was approved for all tiling works.

THE BENEFITS

Thanks to Fosroc's dedicated technical support, the appointed Fosroc Applicator, Concrete Shield, was able to deliver high-quality work within the scheduled timelines. This was made possible by the timely delivery of materials to the site, facilitated by Fosroc's large epoxy production facilities in East Africa. The available material came in a wide variety of colors, allowing the project's parking design to be implemented according to the design, which required different colors in specific areas. The waterproofing and tile adhesive solutions provided by Fosroc ensured the desired level of watertightness in the wet areas, meeting the developer's requirements.
