THE PROJECT

Reliance Industries Ltd. had started CBM (coal bed methane) extraction filed at Shahdol, called the Shahdol – Phulpur Gas Pipeline (SHPPL). To evacuate and transport gas from CBM blocks to potential customers, they planned to build and operate a natural gas pipeline from Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh to Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh. The SHPPL system is a 16” diameter x 304 km main pipeline, comprising a compressor station (CS) at Shahdol where gas is received from the RIL-operated gas gathering station (GGS), 12 mainline block valves (MLVs), one intermediate pigging station (IPS) at Rewa, and a metering and regulating (M&R) station at Phulpur.

THE SOLUTION

As a pioneer in grouting solutions, Fosroc proposed the following system. The client was very quality conscious and thus had a requirement of high strength, free flow, and epoxy grout for grouting the base plate of the compressors. There were two low capacity compressors and one high capacity compressor. The size of the base plate was 12.8 m x 12.225 m and 14.175 m x 12.15 m with a gap thickness of 50mm, which was to be grouted. Knowing the requirements and criticality of the application, we suggested Conbextra EP75 for its robust and high performance.

THE BENEFITS

The client was satisfied with our performance and the quality of the product pertaining to its technical features, as described below:

• Conbextra EP75 is a solvent-free epoxy resin grout designed for grouting gap widths of 10 to 75 mm
• Epoxy grout has a very good flow, ensuring a hassle-free application
• The compressive strength of the grout at 7 days was 100 Mpa with low compressive creep
• Epoxy grout has very good chemical resistance, ensuring durable performance
