THE PROJECT
The project involved improving and repairing the Almerimar reservoir to supply drinking water to the population of the coastal town of El Ejido (Almeria).
The reservoir, which has a capacity of 13,000 cubic meters, was affected by a large crack that has caused progressive corrosion and oxidation of structural elements. The owner required that the repair and waterproofing of the reservoir had to be performed in a short period of time.
THE SOLUTION
Asyma, S.L and the applicator Detyse S.L specialising in projects for waterproofing, structural repairs and industrial flooring turned to Fosroc to carry out this project due to their experience and confidence in the products.
Renderoc SFBD was the concrete reinstatement cementitious mortar chosen for the specific repair of the reservoir and to perform the coving. For waterproofing, they chose Nitocote CM660, a flexible cementitious waterproof coating suitable for use in public water supply. Beside the possibility of applying these products mechanically by spray, their characteristics were ideal for this project.
THE BENEFITS
The structural resistance provided to the repair by Renderoc SFBD and waterproofing with Nitocote CM660 ensured a high quality result for the project.
Both Renderoc SFBD and particularity Nitocote CM660 are very easy to apply by spray, allowing the client to increase the daily production in order to meet the datelines agreed with the owners.
The method of work adopted was both cost effective and economical for the client as it significantly reduce application costs, achieving satisfactory results acknowledged by the owners.
