New Fosroc Facility in India

Fosroc continues to strengthen its position in India with the inauguration of its fourth manufacturing facility. The impressive $1m facility in Uluberia, Howrah district in West Bengal will initially manufacture 20,000 tonnes a year of cement and concrete additives catering for the eastern and north eastern Indian markets, as well as Bangladesh and Bhutan.

"The plant will initially produce cement and concrete reinforcing liquid chemicals. Within a year, we will add powder chemicals manufacturing with another $1m investment," said R Sai Krishnan, Vice-President, Fosroc Chemicals.

“The new liquids plant is equipped with the latest technology for concrete admixtures and will add several advantages to improving concrete properties and durability as well as introducing new applications for concrete.”

The ceremony was attended, among other distinguished guests, by the Deputy Head of Mission Mr Stephen Brice from the British Embassy, Fosroc Chairman Dr James Hay, Fosroc Director Fitriani Hay, Fosroc CEO Dr Andre Ladurelli and Fosroc India Vice-President R Sai Krishnan. 

The chairman of the group, Dr James Hay, said: “This plant shows the importance of the construction market in India, and our confidence in its future. The investment represented the group’s long-term commitment to its customers, employees and business associates in the country and enables us to support our customers in India even more flexibly and efficiently. Our comprehensive R&D facilities and a Technical Center complement the new premises which will add several advantages to improving concrete properties and durability as well as introducing new applications for concrete.”

The plant is another milestone in Fosroc diversification in manufacturing and expansion plans worldwide. Plans are on the way for constructing a powder plant adjacent to the new liquids facility, aimed for commissioning and going on-stream by July 2015.
