THE PROJECT

Jizan Terminal Dredging Backfill Project in Saudi Arabia is an important terminal dredging project and is the first large-scale dredging hydraulic project since Saudi Aramco took over the management of Jizan Economic City. The project site is about 100km away from Jizan City and considered part of Jizan Economic City infrastructure projects. This project will include basin, channel dredging, land area reclamation, breakwater, revetment construction and a heavy-piece terminal and its subsidiary. The project is still on progress by China Harbor Engineering Arabia Co. ‘CHEC’.

THE SOLUTION

Fosroc worked with the contractor at the very early stages through running different concrete trials to assess available raw materials and produce the require concrete mix design, this proposed solution provided the client with the required high quality results using different concrete admixtures; Conplast SP500, Conplast 440M and Conplast CN. Moreover, mold release agent (Nitocote Formcote) was proposed to improve productivity and prolong molds lifetime. After concrete casting, concrete blocks were treated with curing compounds (Concure 90 and Concure AB) to ensure that a proper curing process is in place, and a final silane-siloxane coat (Nitocote SN502) was applied as a protective layer.
