Assistant Technologist or Technologist - Concrete
The role of the FTC laboratory is to focus on new product development in support of the strategic direction of the Company. The jobholder will be involved in the delivery of these strategic projects to meet agreed milestones.

The role of the FTC laboratory is to focus on new product development in support of the strategic direction of the Company.The jobholder will be involved in the delivery of these strategic projects to meet agreed milestones. |

|
Key Areas of Responsibility: |
||
Work with Development Manager and Development assistants to evaluate plasticizers/superplasticizers in concrete and mortars to agreed procedures and standards |
|
|
Preparation of chemical admixtures for testing |
|
|
Testing of concrete/mortar for slump/flow, air content and strength |
|
|
Review literatures/journals/books to improve technical knowledge |
|
|
Maintenance of records of project work |
|
|
Maintain housekeeping and work practices to ensure compliance with all relevant safe working procedures and requirements. This includes training of other team members as appropriate. HSE is our number one priority |
|
|
Ensure work carried out within Fosroc is to ISO quality procedures or governmental laws and contribute to the maintenance of quality standards in all aspects in the Fosroc units |
|
|
Organization of raw materials, chemicals, supplies, and testing facilities as per the laboratories requirements |
|
|
Issuance of monthly reports on progress of project work |
|
|
In-house/external calibration of equipment and instruments |
|
|
Organization of quotations from suppliers/test houses |
|
|
Organization of products/raw materials for external testing |
|
|
Organization of purchase orders, Installation/commissioning of new equipment, bill payments |
|
|
Undergo training to improve technical and soft skills |
|
|
Visit Fosroc units/customer sites to provide technical support, issue visit reports |
|
|
Attend conferences/seminars wherever necessary , issue visit reports |

Key Skills and Experiences
BSc/MSc in Chemistry |
Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills |
Proven experience in a developmental environment preferably concrete/construction chemicals with a practical “hands on” capability (3 – 5 years) |
A proactive and flexible attitude is required with an ability to work within a high skill, team based environment |
An ability to action project plans and organize the work with other team members |
An innovative and open-minded approach to problem solving |
Capability to work with different cultures and to operate in unfamiliar environments |
Ability to travel internationally |
Should have basic knowledge of working on computers (MS Office) |
Good presentation skills |
Sense of humour |
