Fosroc’s commitment to product development and innovation sees the launch of a new joint sealant, Thioflex 555, for sealing and maintenance of joints in concrete roads, concrete runways/taxiways/aprons and hardstanding areas.
A key feature of Thioflex 555 is its rapid return to service sealing many more metres in less time, which is a crucial factor with airside maintenance. Along with a high 25% MAF at a wide range of temperatures, Thioflex 555 offers high durability and resistance to fuel and hydraulic fluid, as well as stone/dirt pickup which means it will provide long service life and reduce maintenance costs. Standard compliance includes both EN14188-2 and BS5212.
Thioflex 555 is available in two grades – hand grade for smaller areas and a machine grade, with even faster curing, for larger areas such as runways/taxiways.
Gordon Sprouse, Fosroc UK’s National Specification Manager for Waterproofing and Sealants said “We were delighted with the response to the trial installation from both Dublin Airport’s Infrastructure Maintenance Managers and also from company owner Jim Ryan of Core Drilling Services who installed the sealant. Both advised that in comparison to products that have been previously used at the airport to seal concrete pavement joints there are clear advantages and benefits to both contractor and client in using this new technology in both productivity and durability. This product is clearly setting a new benchmark for machine applied pavement joint sealing products”
Fosroc have a long track record of successful joint sealing in the UK but also to many international airports around the world. Thioflex 555 is aimed at being the airport sealing product of choice across the globe and following the completion of successful trials at Dublin Airport, it is now available.
