The new state-of the art building at the University of the West of England, Bristol is being constructed to house the Bristol Business School and Bristol Law School and is part of the University's campus development plan to build a University for the 21st Century. Fosroc became involved with the UWE project when they were requested to supply a detailed waterproofing solution for the building which has a large basement set into sloping ground. One of the project requirements was that the drawings should be formatted specifically to meet BIM requirements.
Following the UK Government stipulation that from April 2016, all public construction projects are to be built using BIM (Building Information Modelling), Fosroc UK now has 11 waterproofing products included in the NBS National BIM Library complying with Level 2 BIM Requirements. Fosroc are therefore well placed to comply with any construction project with BIM requirements.
In order to provide a complete, watertight solution product from across the Fosroc waterproofing range were specified to meet the site requirements. A range of membranes including Proofex Hydromat, Proofex Sheetdrain and Proofex 3000 were used, as well as Proofex WG which was used for waterproof grouting of pile caps. Nitocote CM210 waterproofing coating and Supercast SW20 hydrophilic waterstops
Fosroc were able to provide a fully integrated range of products to ensure the watertight integrity of the structure.
By using BIM the customer not only holds all the information needed to design and construct the building, but also for any future maintenance.
