Case Study: Paris Skate Park

Project

Paris Skate Park

Client

SNP Giordanengo

Year

2008

Location

Paris, France

Task

  • SNP Giordanengo was looking to partner with a specialist solutions provider to produce specific precast shapes of a complex nature, and provide guidance to fix the items on site until the flooring coatings were applied.

  • Fosroc was contracted to provide a multi-faceted solution, which required a strong combination of precast knowledge and grout/ anchor fixings on the building site

Constructive Solution

  • Fosroc designed an effective solution to solve specific problems, such as the optimization of surfaces for skateboard run up and speed, the assembly of several precast items with various shapes and different finishing coatings, strong mechanical resistance needs, and the workability retention of concretes

  • Several key products formed part of the solution including;

  • High performance self compacting concrete, for a blemish-free final appearance and a completely smooth surface

  • Fosroc Moudol Eco V11 demoulding oil and resin floor coating Fosroc Nitoflor FC 140, for an optimum quality of surface

  • Fosroc Structuro 311 superplasticiser linked to Fosroc Hydromax, a waterproofing and efflorescence control admixture enabling a very fluid consistency with very good durability and a low consumption of water

  • Fosroc Nitobond E220 epoxy resin for the assembly of complex curved shapes and metallic parts during the design of the different moulds

Value to Client

  • Paris’ Ministry of Sport and Culture were delighted with the overall success of the project in terms of the quality of work and on-time delivery

  • This public project potentially posed some significant challenges and was an important project for the municipality as it is Europe’s largest and most compIex skate park structure at 3500m² area
